New HPE SP (HPE for platter swap from HDD with spacers between platters) is available!

HD HPE PRO will be replaced by the newly designed HPE SP. This new product, with all the original capabilities of the old version HPE being remained, a newly designed platter exchanger was adapted to replace the old one, which allows users to work on hard drives with spacers between platters.

This new HPE SP has had the quality and usability improved compared with the first version of HPE SP:

1. Some of the unnecessary parts have been removed, making the platter exchanger lighter.
2. The platter holders have been improved: they are thinner, for users to fit into the gap between the platters and the base; and stronger, for users to hold the platters firm.
3. Newly designed adjustors enable two ways to adjust the platter holders: one for adjusting the platter holders around over the tool to create a proper angle for different hard drives with different spacer sizes; the other one for adjusting the platter holder wing to grab the platters.

New Hitachi drive was supported by HD Doctor

The update was released in July 8th, 2009. The version of HD Dcotor for Hitachi will be upgraded from version 3.2 to version 3.3 after the installation. Registered users of the client forum can visit the forum at http://www.salvationdata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4 for upgrade logs and program download.

New Support Added

1. Support for new series of 7220(MODEL:HTS7220XXK9SA00) was added. Supporting features include read/write of firmware, password removal, NVRAM Repair, etc. while features include head disabling, clearing P-List, converting G-List to P-List and add defects to P-List are still non-available.

2. Attention: Some drives of 7220 family have the optional FDE (Full Disk Encryption) technology adopted, which can be identified by the indication of "FDE" after Model, i.e., Model: HTS722020K9SA00 FDE. For such kind of hard drive, HD Doctor is capable to remove the ATA password.
